Travel during pregnancy 5 tips that you should take!

5 valuable tips for a relaxing and thoughtful holiday during your Pregnancy!

1) Medical advice

Before you begin your trip, you should consult your family doctor for comprehensive advice about possible risks! They can provide you with expert advice and know about specific, area-specific diseases like malaria, etc., and how you can best protect yourself!

2) Take out travel health insurance!

Be sure to purchase travel health insurance before you leave. If you experience a health issue or an accident, the insurance will cover the costs of treatment or medication. Remember, a living being is growing inside you, and it depends on your health!

3) The maternity record

Always carry your maternity record with you and, if possible, make sure you have easy access to a doctor's office! We recommend choosing accommodation that's close to a doctor's office or easily accessible in case of emergency.

4) Avoid extreme heat and high levels of stress

You should avoid strenuous exercise, excessive heat, and altitudes above 2,500 meters. This additional, unfamiliar strain is dangerous, as you're already under a lot of stress due to pregnancy. Nevertheless, it's recommended to stay outdoors, as vitamin D, which is extremely important, is absorbed primarily through sunlight. 10-20 minutes in the sun can be alternated with periods of shade (depending on your tan).

5) Food choices

In warm countries, you should avoid undercooked meat or foods containing raw eggs (tiramisu, mayonnaise, ice cream). These can be harmful to your baby if they are contaminated. Therefore, for your baby's sake, play it safe. Never drink tap water. Always ask for bottled water (PET bottle) or ask at the hotel/restaurant for a bottled water or where you can get one!
